About LeapForGood

LeapForGood is a programme designed to help passionate change-makers take thoughtful and innovative ideas, and turn them into real and sustainable business solutions. Every year, we invite aspiring social entrepreneurs and existing social enterprises to join us in addressing emerging social needs in Singapore. This year, our focus is on the Work, Life & Play of Seniors and Caregivers returning to work. We want you to join the movement and be part of the social change in Singapore!

2018 Theme

After weeks of research and multiple interviews with experts and beneficiaries, we identified 12 challenges that seniors and caregivers returning to work face. We have categorised these challenges into three themes:

Balancing Caregiving and Work How can caregivers have more flexibility in their professional lives to help them in their personal ones?	Restoring Self-confidence How can caregivers have higher confidence and see their caregiving skills valued at work?
Providing Caregiving Knowledge How can caregivers be better prepared for the need for caregiving knowledge?	Giving Caregivers Relief How can caregivers have new respite solutions that fit their particular contexts?
Offering Emotional Support How can caregivers receive the emotional support that they need?	Resolving Tradeoffs of Childminding How can caregivers find attractive childminding services to use while they return to the workforce?

The Shortlisted Teams

Grant Recipients

At Demo Day on 18 August (Sat), the shortlisted teams pitched and were judged based on the (i) social impact and relevance of their social enterprise idea, (ii) business feasibility, viability and scalability, as well as (iii) commitment of the team with relevant capabilities to execute their idea.

Congratulations to the following five teams who received grants of up to S$100,000 each and a spot in our incubation programme to kick-start their social enterprises!

Ark

Customised early intervention training for caregivers to manage and teach skills to children with autism via telehealth delivery.

Emo Health

An automated weight monitoring solution embedded into patients' own bed and chair, using IoT technology and analytics to deliver tailored insights for caregivers to do early diagnosis and treatment.

Hydrolife

Providing a personalized hydrotherapy programme for seniors to reduce their risk of falling, through a portable modularized pool system.

Wellderly

A healthcare concierge service that utilises care coordinators and a blockchain technology platform to manage wellness administration and paperwork for caregivers.

Xiohoo

A mobile app that enables seniors to learn and share knowledge about technology from matched peers or experts in their proximity.

Dialect language learning with seniors through workshops, simulations and reading materials to healthcare professionals.

Authentic Relating

Therapeutic movement sessions for seniors that focus on alleviating emotional isolation and changing negative self-perceptions.

Forever 55

An AI mobile platform that will engage seniors in social engagements such as meaningful employment, volunteer opportunities, leisure activities and home care needs.

Movinc

Improving the mobility of seniors with a lightweight and portable motorised attachment for traditional wheelchairs.

Swap

A paid volunteer scheme to allow a pool of carefully selected caregivers to be engaged at affordable rates for non-medical caregiving services.

Wellness4Life

Creating an integrated wellness ecosystem of specialised group exercise classes, providing educational health talks and community.

Through the sharing of thoughtful ethnographic research and engagements with industry experts, you are encouraged to set aside preconceptions and step into the shoes of those in need. Generate Innovative Concepts and Sustainable Social Enterprise Models

Drawing on human-centred insights and macro-environment trends, you will find inspiration to develop innovative concepts and plant the seeds for solutions that last through sustainable business models. By the end of this stage, individual participants and organisations may put forth applications detailing the concept of their proposed social enterprises to be in the running to receive support and funds to make them a reality.

Validate Your Concepts Through Market Testing

Shortlisted applicants will enter the prototyping phase with an “Idea Fund” of $1,000 each. You may choose to recruit team members or work with your pre-existing teams to prototype solutions, test and validate your concepts. You will receive support to equip you with tools to further develop your solutions and business models. There will also be facilitated learning and consultation sessions with relevant technical experts, potential partners and key stakeholders. These will culminate in a "Demo Day", where you will make your pitch to secure funding for your social enterprise.

Develop and Implement Your Social Enterprise

Selected social enterprises that emerge from the process will each receive a LeapForGood grant of up to $100,000 and incubation support from raiSE to catalyse the implementation of their solutions and social enterprise ventures. These will give you a solid foundation for piloting your prototyped ideas and sustaining social impact.
